DESCRIPTION:
SUPER BASE (HS) is designed from the best-known high performance
elastomeric specially-formulated acrylic in the market, known for adhesion, ability to
pond water, weatherability, UV-resistance, flexibility and toughness. SUPER BASE (HS) was
blended to work cohesively with our MULTI MESH MEMBRANE and SUPER THERM, together or
separately, to form a complete seal on any roofing or wall structure. Longevity of service
was the concern, and the determination for quality was built into this base coating. It is
a water-based, high-performance acrylic that is easily applied without environmental
concerns, and compliments the quality of the SUPER THERM top coat. SUPER BASE (HS) was designed to be applied to roofing structures to seal cracks.
Seal over tar with SUPER BASE before applying SUPER THERM , apply SUPER BASE (HS) over
asphalt shingles or concrete or wood to seal before applying SUPER THERM. It gives the
correct base coat to seal over dry substrates to be absorbed into the surface allowing
SUPER THERM to set up properly. This affords the full effect of its ceramic mixture.
SUPER BASE (HS) is designed to apply to all roofing whether flat or
inclined, in new construction or to retrofit wood, concrete, tar, sheeting, polyfoam, or
sheetrock. This gives outstanding adhesion, scaling protection, flexibility, and acts as a
base coat for encapsulating the surface prior to applying SUPER THERM.
APPLICATION METHODS:
Surfaces must be clean and dry before application. Loose or flaking old
paint or corrosion must be removed from surface before applying. High pressure water
blasting (3500 psi) will remove most loose and flaking materials. If oils are present, use
our SP-WB Cleaner in water according to recommended proportions to remove any oil
residues. As a rule, a"a coating is only as good as the surface it covers."
Grease, oil, waxy substances, dirt, etc. must be cleaned from surfaces. Oil paints can
remain if bonded solidly to surfaces. SUPER BASE (HS) can be applied best by airless or
airpot spray, roller and by brush. If rolling, it may take two coats to attain required
mils. When applying in conjunction with our MESH MEMBRANE on a flat roof; whether over
tar, concrete, metal or wood, one coat is laid at 50 sq. ft./gallon to completely seal the
surface. Then the MEMBRANE is laid into the first coat before drying. A second coat of
SUPER BASE (HS) is laid on top of the MEMBRANE at 100 sq. ft. per gallon to encapsulate
the membrane and SUPER THERM is top coated for insulation. This system gives
hail-resistance, ponding-resistance and water tightness for a minimum of 20 years. For
walls or inclined roofing, whether underside of interior/exterior walls, SUPER BASE
is applied to seal and fill cracks or very porous substrates and before SUPER THERM
is applied to insulate. SUPER BASE (HS) used with SUPER THERM gives insulation value
to the roofing and walls structures to prevent heat buildup under the roof or inside the
wall areas.
USES:
To cover over seams that are no more than 1/32" opened to seal from
water penetration and secure the seam. If seams are standing open more than 1/32",
then using the fabric membrane is recommended in combination with the SUPER BASE (HS) to
secure the seams.
